Company Profile

Suriname American Industries Limited (SAIL) was established by an American lawyer Albert Schweig in June 1955 as a private shrimp processor and has grown as a leading seafood processing company in Suriname.

In 1984, the company became a state owned limited liability company and since then it operates as an independent entity with its own funds and is managed by a managing director who represents the company.

The company has its own harbor facilities and an ice producing plant. SAIL currently has 175 employees.

Processing and supplying seafood products, together with our strategic and synergizing partners for local as well as for the export market, against the highest international standards.

Quality Standard

Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality seafood products. Our quality system is in accordance with the HACCP quality standards and frequently the local Competent Authority of Industrial Quality in Fishery and Agriculture (Stichting Viskeuringsinstituut) audits our processing facilities.

All seafood products are caught in the FAO Region 31.
